Mark Lois Fortin wins MS Poster Presentation Award at the 14th ASTHRDP Graduate Scholars’ Conference

Mark Lois Fortin, a recent Master of Science in Applied Mathematics graduate from the Institute of Mathematics, was awarded as the Winner of the MS Poster Presentation in Category 4: Mathematical and Computational Sciences at the 14th ASTHRDP Graduate Scholars’ Conference. Organized by the Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (ASTHRDP) under the Department of Science and Technology–Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), the conference was held on September 17–18, 2026, in Iloilo City, bearing the theme “Science and Technology that Works for the People.”

He presented his master’s thesis work, “Turing Instability in a Reaction-Diffusion Predator-Prey Model with Prey Infection and Intraspecific Predator Competition”, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Gervy Marie Angeles.

The Institute of Mathematics and the larger UP Diliman contingent were well-represented at the conference, with the university’s team also securing 2nd Place in the Fellowship Night Competition.

The Institute congratulates Mark Lois for this recognition and commends the UP Diliman team for showcasing the strength of UPD’s research on a national platform.
