Members of the Institute of Mathematics selected by NAST PHL to participate in the 2025 Future Science Leaders’ Forum

The Institute of Mathematics was represented at the Future Science Leaders’ Forum (9–10 October 2025, Alabang, Muntinlupa City) of the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), by two of its members: Dr. Bryan Hernandez, who was selected as a delegate, and Dr. Victor Manuel Aricheta, who was selected as a rapporteur for one of the sessions.

The forum is a prestigious annual event organized by NAST PHL to empower emerging Filipino science leaders. It aims to strengthen leadership capabilities, expand professional networks, and prepare participants for key roles in science policy, innovation, and national development. The forum also provides a platform for addressing the challenges of research and innovation while fostering collaboration and mentorship among the next generation of science leaders.

The FSLF gathers some of the country’s most promising young scientists, typically between 30 and 40 years old, selected from various academic and research institutions nationwide. Participants are chosen based on their demonstrated leadership potential, scientific accomplishments, and active engagement in their respective disciplines.

Over the two-day event, participants attended plenary talksleadership workshops, and mentoring sessions led by National Scientists and NAST Academicians. The sessions focused on building a culture of research and innovation, fostering collaboration and institutional linkages, promoting mentorship, and advancing science as a driver of national progress. These engagements are designed to inspire and equip young scientists with the leadership and collaborative skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s scientific and technological advancement.

The Institute of Mathematics extends its congratulations to Bryan Hernandez and Victor Manuel Aricheta for this achievement and their continued dedication to advancing the frontiers of mathematics and science in the Philippines. Their participation in the Future Science Leaders’ Forum reflects the institute’s ongoing commitment to nurturing leadership and excellence in research and education.
