Math 21 Advanced Placement Examination 2025

The Math 21 advanced placement exam (APE) is an optional exam administered to incoming freshmen of UP Diliman who have taken and passed Basic Calculus from senior high school. An incoming freshman who have not taken Basic Calculus from senior high school needs to pass the Math 20 validation exam in order to be eligible to take the Math 21 APE.

A student who passes the Math 21 APE will be credited 4 units of Math 21 in their academic program but without a numerical grade. This means that the student may be able enroll to another subject having Math 21 as a prerequisite.

The exam covers limits and continuity, derivatives of algebraic and transcendental functions (exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, hyperbolic, and their inverses), applications of derivatives, antiderivatives and definite integrals, Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and applications of the definite integral (refer to the Math 21 syllabus).
