A Southeast Asian Mathematical Society (SEAMS) school on “Scientific Computing for Differential Equations and Applications” was held at the UP Diliman Institute of Mathematics from November 22 to December 1. This event was organized by the Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing Group, through the support of the UP Diliman Institute of Mathematics, Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA), SEAMS, University of the Philippines, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Commission for Developing Countries (CDC) of the International Mathematical Union, Mathematical Society of the Philippines (MSP), UP Diliman Mathematics Foundation, Inc., Philippine Consortium Inc., and other private sponsors.

This SEAMS school brought together experts from the Philippines, Austria, South Korea, and Japan in numerical analysis and scientific computing to deliver introductory lectures on recent numerical techniques for solving ordinary and partial differential equations, as well as their applications.

Thirty-six participants from Cambodia, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines attended this 8-day workshop, which included lectures, discussions, and hands-on computational exercises. Participants also engaged in mini-projects that they presented at the end of the school
