Enhancing International Collaboration in Mathematics for Young Researchers: 10th Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF)

On 28 September 2023, IMath Professor Jose Maria Balmaceda participated in a workshop on Enhancing International Collaboration in Mathematics for Young Researchers involved in the 10th Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF). Professor Balmaceda gave an online presentation on programs of the Southeast Asian Mathematical Society (SEAMS) and also talked about how the Commission for Developing Countries of the International Mathematical Union (IMU-CDC) can support young researchers and students. Professor Balmaceda was former SEAMS President and currently Secretary for Grants of the CDC.

This event was organized by Djordje Baralic, Director of the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, as one of the parallel sessions of the HLF. Other workshop speakers included CIMPA Executive Director Christophe Ritzenhaler and European Mathematical Society President Jan Philip Solovej. The workshop was an opportunity to listen to the multiple concerns of the audience who appreciated the insights and advice  that were shared.
