Job Opening: MS Graduate Fellow in Applied Mathematics

The UP Diliman Institute of Mathematics invites applications for the following position:

MS Graduate Fellow in Applied Mathematics

Starting date: As soon as possible for a period of up to 1 year

Qualification requirements:

  • MS Applied Mathematics graduate with specialization in Numerical Analysis of Differential Equations
  • Recipient of any of the following scholarship grants: DOST-ASTHRDP, DOST-ERDT, DOST-STRAND, or DOST-SEI Foreign Graduate Scholarships
  • Preferably with background in shape optimization, partial differential equations, and level set methods
  • Excellent programming skills (preferably FreeFEM++ and Python/MATLAB)
  • Preferably with experience in scientific research, as evidenced by publications, conference presentations, and/or involvement in research projects
  • A clear drive to do interdisciplinary research
  • Good oral and written proficiency in English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team

Tasks:

  • conduct research on the level set methods for overdetemined boundary problems and land subsidence modeling with the Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing (NASC) Academic Research Group under the supervision of Dr. Rhudaina Mohammad
  • prepare and process documents relevant to the project operations
  • write project reports and manuscripts
  • publish high-quality scientific results in indexed journals
  • disseminate research findings in conferences

Work schedule:

  • Successful applicants are expected to work 40 hours per week, with the option to work-from-home.
  • The gross monthly salary amounts to Php 59,802.00, which will be provided by DOST-SEI.
