Call for Applications to Graduate Programs (1st Semester AY 2023-24)
Applications to the following graduate programs of the Institute of Mathematics are now open:
Diploma in Mathematics
The Diploma in Mathematics program is a one-year post-baccalaureate program primarily intended to provide non-mathematics major students adequate preparation for a master’s program in mathematics. It consists of selected courses from the B.S. Mathematics program.
Professional Master’s in Applied Mathematics (Actuarial Science)
The Professional Master’s in Applied Mathematics (Actuarial Science) program is intended primarily for students who would like to pursue an actuarial career. Its aim is to give students practical advanced education needed by the industry and to foster closer partnership with industry in the form of actual problems incorporated into the course work. The program also aims to prepare the students in taking their actuarial professional exams, such as the Actuarial Society of the Philippines (ASP) Exams and/or the Society of Actuaries (SOA) Exams. The program has been recognized by the SOA as a member of the Universities and Colleges with Actuarial Programs since 2020.
Master of Arts (Mathematics)
The Master of Arts in Mathematics program is intended primarily for teachers or would-be teachers of secondary and tertiary mathematics courses. This program is intended for those whose undergraduate preparation was not really a BS Mathematics degree but would like to teach, seeking a “mathematics content” (as opposed to a “teaching methods”) master’s degree program.
Master of Science (Applied Mathematics)
The Master of Science in Applied Mathematics Program is designed for students seeking training in applied mathematics to pursue a career in the academe or in research and development in industry. Its curriculum is designed in such a way that graduates of this program are equipped with enhanced mathematical, analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex problems in life and physical sciences, mathematical finance, etc. The program also provides the students with a solid mathematical foundation for doctoral studies in mathematics or related fields.
Master of Science (Mathematics)
The Master of Science in Mathematics Program is designed for those seeking advanced mathematical training in preparation for doctoral studies in related fields, for research, or for teaching college courses.
Doctor of Philosophy (Mathematics)
The Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics Program is a research-oriented program that is intended to encourage the development of mathematics in the Philippines through the production of highly trained mathematicians whose research works contribute to the development of new knowledge. Corollary to this main objective is the upgrading of mathematics teaching in colleges and universities.

Here is a list of requirements for application: (Source)
- Formal letter of application addressed to the Dean of the College of Science
- Duly accomplished Application Form
- Official transcripts of undergraduate and graduate records or True Copy of Grades
- Certified copies of diplomas or certificate of graduation
- Two duly accomplished Recommendation Forms
- For Filipino citizen: Birth certificate from Philippine Statistics Authority
- For foreigners whose native language and medium of instruction are not English: Certification of English Proficiency (TOEFL score of at least 500 for paper-based, or at least 173 for computer-based, or at least 61 for internet-based test)
