Job Opening: MS Applied Mathematics Graduate Fellow
The UPD Institute of Mathematics invites applications for the following position:
MS Applied Mathematics Graduate Fellow
Starting date: As soon as possible for a period of up to 3 years
Qualification requirements:
- MS Applied Mathematics with specialization in optimization
- Recipient of any of the following scholarships: DOST-ASTHRDP, DOST-ERDT, DOST-STRAND, or DOST-SEI Foreign Graduate Scholarships
- Excellent knowledge of optimization theory and applications
- Excellent programming skills (preferably Matlab or Python)
- Preferably with experience in scientific research, as evidenced by publications in indexed journals
- A clear drive to do interdisciplinary research
- Very good oral and written proficiency in English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
Tasks:
- will work under the supervision of Dr. Renier Mendoza on the following topics:
- optical character recognition of Baybayin script
- applications of evolutionary algorithms
- optimal control of vector-borne diseases
- software development
- write project reports
- publication of high-quality scientific results
- dissemination of research findings through presentations at conferences
Work schedule:
- Successful applicants are expected to work 40 hours per week, with the option to work-from-home
- The gross monthly salary amounts to P59,802.00, which will be provided by DOST-SEI
