About May 12

May 12 was chosen to commemorate the birthday of Maryam Mirzakhani, the first woman to receive the prestigious Fields Medal. This global initiative celebrates the achievements of women in mathematics and promotes a more inclusive and diverse mathematical community.

At the University of the Philippines Diliman, we join this global celebration by highlighting the research contributions of women at the Institute of Mathematics. Through this local initiative, we aim to foster an inclusive and inspiring environment for the members of the UP Diliman community and beyond.
